The main reason for why so many people are now choosing to visit this country which is part of Eastern Europe is that it has some of the world’s most beautiful and unspoilt beaches. Yet there is so much more that one can do when visiting here than just laying on a beach. Why not spend time exploring its beautiful countryside either on horseback or by hiking along the many trails that are available for you to use.
The weather in Bulgaria compared to some other countries in Europe is very temperate. The summers are hot and dry whilst the winters are cold and damp. If you want to miss these extremes in the weather the best times for visiting this country is between April and mid June.
But for those that do like the sun then June through to September is the perfect time for holidaying in Bulgaria. Although this is also the height of the tourist season and so accommodation costs will rise and it’s crucial that book yours well in advance of your holiday dates. This is even more important if you choose to holiday at any one of Bulgaria’s Black Sea Resorts.
But if you want to see a different side of Bulgaria then you should try and arrange time to visit in September. This is when the trees are beginning to show their autumn colors and fruit and vegetables are in plentiful supply. Plus getting accommodation is far easier and the rates you will be charged will be a lot lower.
If you intend to go skiing because the resorts that Bulgaria now have are growing in popularity so booking well in advance is essential. The main ski season occurs in this country from the middle of December and can run through well into April, but this is dependent on what the weather has been like.
When it comes to getting to Bulgaria nothing could be simpler. Nearly every major airport in Europe is offering direct flights to the airport in Sofia, including its own airline Bulgaria Air. This is the national airline which took over from Balkan Airlines in 2002. But along with Bulgaria’s own airline many budget airlines in Europe now offer flights to it also.
If you intend to visit Bulgaria by car then you need to be aware that a tax will be levied on your vehicle as you cross the border into the country and as you leave again. So arrange to have plenty of small currency with you before you go.
